Principles of a Safe Space at Porvoo Clubhouse

Be Open and Tolerant

  • We approach people, topics, and situations with an open mind and without prejudice.
  • We let everyone be themselves. No one is discriminated against, and we do not tolerate hate speech directed at any group.
  • Together, we create a safe environment.

Show Respect

  • We respect everyone’s personal privacy, space, and boundaries. This applies to physical, psychological, and spiritual integrity.
  • We treat others with kindness and appreciation. We also respect the property of others.
  • We have zero tolerance for harassment. Profanity, offensive language, and sexual harassment in any form are strictly prohibited.
  • Disruptive borrowing or soliciting does not belong in a safe atmosphere.

Take Responsibility

  • We look after the safe space together with others.
  • If you notice someone offending another person, intervene in the situation.
  • If you make a mistake, apologize and act differently in the future.
  • Everyone arrives at the Clubhouse sober and without substances. We do not glorify substance use, though constructive discussion on the topic is allowed.
  • We do not promote religious or political views at the Clubhouse.

Relax

  • Participate in activities as yourself. Feel free to ask questions and join the conversation if you are unsure about something.
  • Here, you are allowed to try, make mistakes, and succeed! There is always something new to learn.

Community Rules and Consequences

  • Disruptive or threatening behavior will lead to a temporary or permanent termination of membership at the Clubhouse.
  • Private and internal matters heard at the Clubhouse remain within the house. We are loyal to the community: we do not harm the Clubhouse’s operations or reputation, even in our free time.

Welcome to the Porvoo Clubhouse Website

The Clubhouse activities are built around a work-ordered day. During a work-ordered day at Porvoo Clubhouse, you can participate in office, kitchen, and administrative work.

The work-ordered day brings members and staff together to manage the Clubhouse operations side-by-side. The Clubhouse focuses primarily on the strengths and abilities of its members.

Everyone has the opportunity to participate in the work-ordered day, regardless of their functional capacity. The Clubhouse is driven by the work of its members; everyone is needed, and even the smallest task is important to the community. The Clubhouse’s work-ordered day also includes internal educational activities that utilize the skills and talents of the members.
